Baseball Sweeps Bears!

Auburndale, Fl. –The FCC baseball squad had a nice day on the diamond taking two from Mott Community College by the scores of 10-0 and 11-8.  With the two victories FCC improves to 8-5 on the season and will play their final game in Florida tomorrow morning when they take on Delta College.  First pitch is set for 9:00 AM.

Game 1

FCC starting pitcher Colby Rudis came up big for the Cougars as he toed the rubber for Game 1 against the Bears.  Rudis tossed a complete game shutout and scattered just two hits to remain a perfect 3-0 on the season.  He fanned 11 batters and walked just two in the dominating performance.

Sophomore second baseman Justin Hovey had three base knocks and scored two runs to lead the Cougar offense.  Mark Martinez went 1-for-4 and knocked in three runs in the victory.

Game 2

Freshman first baseman Seth Holler had himself quite a day at the dish for FCC.  The "Big Man" had three hits in the victory including a double while knocking in three runs.  Holler also scored three runs for the Cougars.  Billy Lennox, Blake Lazur, and Justin Hovey had nice games at the plate with two hits each. 

Ryan Capstick came out of the bullpen for FCC and stays a perfect on the year on the mound picking up his second win of the season.  Capstick went 3.2 innings and gave up just one earned run while striking out four batters.  Brian Rourke pitched a perfect seventh inning and picked up the save closing the door on the Bears.
