Frederick, Md.- The FCC men's baseball squad returned to the diamond on Tuesday afternoon to a beautiful day for some baseball. The Cougars kicked-off MD JUCO conference play against Allegany College of Maryland. The Cougars topped the Trojans by the score of 3-1 in a pitcher's duel. FCC will be back in action on Wednesday for a mixed doubleheader. Game One will feature FCC against St. Clair County Community College with first pitch scheduled at 1:00 PM and Game Two the Cougars will square off against Hood College JV at 4 PM. FCC sport an overall record of 10-5 and are winners of four straight and sit at 1-0 in MD JUCO action.
FCC's starting pitcher Carson Bach (1-1) was an absolute stud on the mound for Head Coach Rodney Bennett and the Cougar baseball team. Bach turned in a much needed performance to save arms in the bullpen as the Cougars play thirteen games over the next seven days. The lengthy righty turned in a nice day at the office tossing eight innings while fanning 13 Trojan batters and gave up just three hits. Bach handed the ball over to Brian Rourke who tossed a perfect ninth inning to shut the door on Allegany and secure the victory for FCC. Rourke came in pumping gas and struck out two Trojan batters to pick up his second save of the season.
The Cougars tallied seven hits in the victory led by leadoff hitter CJ Mackinson. The slick fielding third baseman continues to shine and set the table in the leadoff spot. Teammate designated hitter Zackary Costello continues to swing a hot bat as he registered a double and knocked in a run for the victors.
