Frederick, Md. – The FCC men's baseball team swept SUNY Adirondack by the scores of 17-2 and 8-7 each in five inning games. With the two victories, FCC has an overall record of 19-6 including 4-1 in conference play. The same two teams will return to the field on Monday with first pitch slated for noon.
FCC came out swinging the bats and pounded out 16 hits in the victory. Designated hitter Zackary Costello led the hit parade with three hits while teammates CJ Mackinson, Jett Manning, Dylan Gutierrez, and Justin Hovey each had two hits. Gutierrez tallied three RBI's for the Cougars.
FCC starting pitcher Vincent Lodati tossed five innings to pick up his second victory on the season. Lodati gave up just one earned run and struck out seven.
Brandon Beck was a one man wrecking crew in game two for the Cougars. Beck got the nod at first base and he took full advantage of the opportunity. Beck wasted little time getting the Cougars on the board early connecting for a three-run homer in the first inning. He would hit another deep fly for his second homer of the game tallying five RBI's in the victory. Teammate Ashtin Byers had a pair of hits for FCC.
FCC starting pitcher Doug Pearl remains perfect on the year recording his second win. DP struck out eleven batter in five innings of work while giving up just three earned runs.
