Baseball Erupts For 29 Runs In Sweep Over Hornets

Winchester, Va. – The No. 16 FCC baseball team hit the road on Saturday afternoon for a match-up against Shenandoah University JV and the Cougars took two games by the scores of 15-4 and 14-5.  With the two victories the Cougars make it four in a row and 28-13 on the season.  FCC will play host to Shenandoah University JV on Sunday (4/17/16) afternoon for a doubleheader.  Come out to the diamond and enjoy some baseball with first pitch set for 1:00 PM.

Game 1

FCC starting pitcher Ryan Franceschina had himself quite an outing earning the victory. Franceschina pitched six innings and struck out six to remain perfect on the year improving to 2-0 on the season.  He gave up just five hits and walked four.

The FCC offense had Franceschina's back pounding out 11 hits putting 15 runs on the board.  FCC leadoff hitter CJ Mackinson was a perfect 3-for-3 and reached base a total of five times as he also earned two free passes.  Mackinson took advantage of ducks on the pond knocking in four runs.  Teammates Jett Manning and Ashtin Byers had two hits apiece.  Manning tallied four RBI in the victory.  Brandon Beck joined the hit parade and took a lap around the bases connecting on his third homer of the year.  "Big Man" Beck registered three RBI.

Game 2

Sweet-swinging switch hitter Jett Manning is locked-in right now at the dish.  Manning went 3-for-3 and continue to rip the cover off the baseball.  He is now batting .389 on the year and he also swiped three bases in the victory.  Designated hitter Brandon Beck remains hot as well going 2-for-2 while knocking in four RBI.  Ryan Capstick, Seth Holler and Garrett Blank each tallied two RBI apiece.

FCC starting pitcher David Tiskevics picked up the victory improving to 2-1 on the season.  David T. went 4.2 inning and recorded seven punchouts.
