Dundalk, Md. - After a two hour rain delay the Cougars of FCC took on the Lions from CCBC Dundalk. The Lions would take game one 6-5 and the Cougars would bounce back to take game two by the score of 7-6. The Cougars are now 34-16 (12-10 MD JUCO, 9-5 Region XX D2) on the season and will host Garrett College in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon with a start time of 12:00 PM.
In game one the Cougars got off to a solid start in the first inning with lead-off man CJ Mackison smacking a double followed up by an RBI single from Jett Manning putting the Cougars up 1-0. The Lions would answer with four runs in the bottom of the 1st and eventually hold off the Cougars. Jett Manning went 3-for-4 in game one while knocking in three runs. FCC starting pitch Colby Rudis was hit with the loss and stands at 6-3 on the season. Rudis went 6.2 innings and struck out five batters.
FCC starting pitcher Brian Rourke (5-3) got the nod in game two and earned his fifth victory of the season. Rourke was in total command through four innings until the Lions struck for three runs in the bottom of the fifth. CCBC Dundalk would not go away quietly. In their final at-bats, CCBC Dundalk threatened and total props to FCC left-fielder Justin Hovey for a miraculous catch crashing into the left field wall recording the first out of the inning. The Lions would get two runners on and the next batter delivered a three-run homer making it a 7-6 game. Rourke was pulled from the contest and Aaron Roby came in to close it out and earn his first save on the season. Roby would record the final two outs of the contest and came up big in a pressure situation.
