Frederick, Md. – The No. 15 FCC baseball team swept the Lakers from Garrett College on Saturday afternoon by the scores of 10-0 (5 innings) and 4-0. FCC is now 36-16 on the year (14-10 MD JUCO, 11-5 Region XX D2) and will travel to No. 3 Mercer County College on May 3rd for a doubleheader with first pitch set for 2:00 PM.
FCC starting pitcher Carson Bach (6-2) flat-out dominated the Lakers on Saturday afternoon. Bach was "locked-in" and picked up his sixth win of the season. The hard-throwing right-hander went the distance and shutout Garrett in five innings giving up just two hits while striking out eight. Bach now has 110 strikeouts on the year in 68 innings of work.
The Cougars exploded for nine runs in the third inning to secure the victory. Billy Lennox, Brandon Beck, Jett Manning, Seth Holler, and Justin Hovey each had two hits to propel the offense. Teammates Zackary Costello and Dalton Haymaker knocked in a pair of runs each.
Doug Pearl got the nod on the hill for game two for FCC and had a solid outing tossing a complete game shutout and remains perfect on the season sporting a record of 5-0. DP gave up just five hits while fanning five batters over seven innings of work.
"Billy Baseball" Lennox continues to swing a hot stick for FCC. Lennox went 3-for-4 while teammate Justin Hovey had two hits in the victory.
