FREDERICK, Md. – The Fredreick Community College Cougars hosted Genesee Community College on Sunday afternoon for a doubleheader. GCC would take both games over FCC by the scores 6-2 and 10-4. FCC drops to 10-6 (4-0 MD JUCO) overall on the season and GCC sits at 8-4. FCC will return to the diamond on Thursday (3/21) when they host Montgomery College for a single game. First pitch is set for 3:00 P.M.
FCC would jump on the scoreboard in the first frame thanks to a RBI double by Connor Hanafin. GCC would answer back with two runs in the top of the second and seal the game by plating four runs in the top of the fifth. Hayden Kissel was the only Cougar to muster up two hits in the game. Jacob Wetzel suffered the loss on the mound and falls to 0-1 on the season
The big blow in game two came in the top of the fourth inning when GCC put a four spot on the scoreboard with a grand slam to pad the lead to 7-2. Priamo Lozada hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth for FCC and would cut into the deficit. GCC would add three more runs to seal the victory. Lozada, Mitchell Long, Jacob Wetzel and Kyle Hoeth each had two hits. For Lozada, it was his fifth homer on the season and for Long, it was his third triple this year. Colin Eberhardt is tagged with the loss and dips to 0-1 on the year.
