CATONSVILLE, Md. -- Frederick returned to action Saturday afternoon to face CCBC-Catonsville (5-2) with hopes of getting their overall record to .500. Coming off of a big victory against Anne Arundel, Frederick hoped to continue the hot shooting and solid defense, but a cold shooting performance ultimately led to Catonsville winning, 86-76.
The first half started out slow for the Cougars as Catonsville's guards got off to a hot start from the field. The Cougars were able to keep the score within striking distance for much of the first 15 minutes, but Catonsville pulled away for a 14-point first-half lead. Anthony Isaac led the Cougars in the first half with 13 points and eight rebounds. Jacob McIntosh added eight points and 10 rebounds.
After halftime, the Cougars made several small runs to get the game within single digits, but each time they did, Catonsville answered with another run of their own to push the lead. Frederick fell behind by as much as 16 point and played within that range for much of the second half. In the final two minutes of the game, sophomore Tyre Gathright got hot, and connected on 4-of-5 triples to get the game back into single digits.
Frederick returns to action Wednesday night at home against conference foe Allegany College of MD. Tip off is set for 7pm.
