Rockville, Md. – Frederick Community College Cougars men's basketball team hit the road to open conference play on Wednesday night against a talented Montgomery College squad. The Cougars came out of the locker room clicking on all cylinders and earned the victory over the Raptors, 73-61. With the victory, FCC sits at 4-1 overall, including 1-0 in the conference. The Raptors fall to 2-2 on the season and 0-1 in the conference.

From the tip, FCC was in control of the contest as the Cougars took a 39-23 lead into the locker room after the first 20 minutes of action. In the second half, FCC would build a comfortable 50-28 lead at the 15 minute mark, however, the Raptor would not go away quietly, cutting the Cougar lead to just nine with five minutes to play. A Keon Claiborne 3-pointer would seal the deal late and the Cougars would secure the victory.

The Cougars registered four players in double figures led by Dwayne Garner. He pumped in a team-high 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field, while pulling down six boards.
