BALTIMORE, Md. - The Frederick Community College men's basketball team made it a perfect weekend taking part in the Ben Williams Classic, hosted by Baltimore City Community College. The Cougars took care of business on Saturday afternoon, defeating Lackawanna College, 84-66. The Cougars would return to the hardwood on Sunday squaring off against Rowan College at Burlington County. FCC would have to come from behind, but would prevail, 70-67 in a tight contest. The Cougars trailed by a bucket heading into halftime, but started the second half strong to set the tempo for the final 20 minutes of action. With the victory, FCC extends its winning streak to three games and sits at 8-2 on the season.
The Cougars sizzled the nets over the weekend and continue to play pesky defense. Dashon Bell and Marlon White Jr. each chipped in with 13 points to lead the Cougars to victory on Sunday. On the season, both Bell and White Jr. have hit double figures in scoring on nine out of 10 games. Teammates Morris Robinson, Keon Claiborne, Dwayne Garner, and Ben Meredith each scored eight points. Kenneth Stancell Jr. hauled down eight rebounds to clean up on the glass for FCC while Robinson dished out three assists.
As a team, FCC shot 26-48 (54.2%) from the field and the team continues to play stingy defense. Opponents on the season are averaging just 66 points a contest.
FCC will return to the court on Wednesday (12/13/2017) for a MD JUCO match-up when they play host to the Riverhawks from Anne Arundel Community College. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 P.M. at the Athletics Center.
