Cougars squander 17-point lead and fall to #8 PGCC

FREDERICK, Maryland – The Frederick Community College men's basketball team hit the hardwood on Wednesday night to battle the Owls from Prince George's CC. (PGCC #8 NJCAA DIII) put a strong second half together to earn the 91-88 MD JUCO conference win. FCC falls to 3-1 (0-1 MD JUCO) on the year as the Owls improve to 5-1 (1-0 MD JUCO).

At the 15 minute mark in the second, FCC was on cruise control with a 67-50 lead. PGCC put together their own 26-9 run to tie the contest up at 76 at the 5:32 mark. The Cougars would take a 84-79 lead with just three minutes to go as Juwan Burnett threw down a two-handed dunk, followed up by a deep three from CJ Williams. In the closing minutes of the contest, PGCC connected on a couple of deep 3-pointers and clutch free throw shooting to earn the victory.

FCC freshman Devon Knaub led the Cougars in scoring with 16 points. Teammates Juwan Burnett and CJ Williams poured in 15 and 13 points respectively.
