Columbia, Md. -- The Frederick Community College men's soccer team beat #10 nationally-ranked NJCAA D III Howard Community College on Friday by the score of 4-3. Both teams battled for 90 minutes as the Cougars jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, however, the Dragons would roar back to tie the contest. FCC goals were scored by Guillermo Marenco and Ivan Gutierrez. Maycol Nunez had a stellar game finding the net twice for the Cougars in the victory.
"It wasn't our greatest game, but we were happy with the result, whenever you can beat a team that is top 10 nationally it's a good day," said FCC Head Coach John LaRocca. "I am glad I have a team that doesn't stop playing for all 90 minutes and have resilience. Dimitriz Castellanos, Chris Cribas Tejada and Hein Aung really stepped up today and gave us quality minutes."
Up Next: The Cougars will travel to CCBC Essex on Tuesday at 7:00 PM. The Knights are currenlty ranked #19 in the country. FCC is in a four-way tie at the top of the MD JUCO with a record of 1-0 and 2-1-1 overall.
