Hagerstown, Md. -- The Frederick Community College Cougars beat Hagerstown Community College on Friday in men's soccer conference action by the score of 2-1. The Cougars and Hawks battled to a 1-1 tie in regulation and the game was decided in overtime on the game-winner by Carlos Granados Torres.
The game-winning goal was started when Quincy Tyler made a 65 yard run with the ball down the line and put it across to Granados Torres. "I saw the ball in front of me and I knew we won," said Granados. Witht the win the Cougars improve to 3-2-1 overall and sit at 2-1 in conference play.
"It was good to get the win, even though we could have played a lot better," said FCC head Coach John LaRocca. "A lot of our key starters were out, so I am glad the team stepped up and were resilient. Anytime you can beat your local rival, it's a good day. I am so proud of my goal keeper Joseph Garner and the backline for grinding this one out." Joel Ramirez got the Cougars on the board early finding the back of the net.
The Cougars will hit the road on Sunday to take on West Virginia University's Club team. Ball will drop at 1:00 PM.
