The Frederick Community College Men's Soccer team is poised for an exciting spring season. Due to the fall season being postponed for COVID-19, the Cougars will start their traditional season in March. The Cougars were ranked as high as 14th in the nation last season and 11th in the nation in 2018 but have hopes for a record-breaking season this year. The 2020 recruiting class and returning group appear to be as strong as any Head Coach John LaRocca has had in his tenure. "We are young but extremely talented. Everyone is locked in, and I am confident we will have a great year as long as we continue to follow our core values. William Burnett-Freshman (Frederick, Maryland)
William Burnett is ranked the #5 prospect in the MidAtlantic, #18 forward and #88 overall prospect in the nation for the 2020 class, according to Top Drawer Soccer. Burnett currently plays for DC United's U-19 Academy team and was previously with Philadelphia Union's Residency program. Burnett was called up for two US Youth National Team Training Camps during his youth career.

Ryan Brown-Freshman (Leesburg, Virginia)
As a Junior, Ryan Brown was selected as All-Met, All-District, and All-Region for Loudoun County High School. Ryan served as team captain for his high school, as well as his club team Loudoun '01. Ryan did not have a senior season due to Covid-19.
"We are thrilled to add Ryan to the 2020 class. Ryan accomplished so much as a junior in high school. It was a shame he didn't get to have his senior season with this virus. Luckily, we were able to watch him play with his club team and have him on our campus before all the craziness happened. He comes from a soccer family. His sister plays at Virginia Tech. We know that we are getting an incredibly driven person and high character kid. His ability to make plays and high work rate is going to be a huge asset."- Coach LaRocca
Diego Camarena-Freshman (Iroquois, Illinois)
Diego Camarena from Iroquois West High School in Illinois has led the Nation in Goals in both his junior and senior seasons. In four seasons with Iroquois HS, Diego has totaled 155 career goals, scoring 68 his senior year with 21 assists.
"We are extremely lucky to have Diego join us for next year. He is not only extremely talented, but he's also extremely humble. We are getting a champion on the field, in the classroom, and as a teammate. He demands a lot from himself, and I know he will help contribute to our competitive culture immediately."- Coach LaRocca
Heriberto Campuzano-Freshman (Mesquite, Texas)
Heriberto Campuzano, out of Mesquite, Texas, was a 3-time All-Conference selection for Mesquite High School and was selected 11-6A Most Valuable Player.
"I am beyond excited Heriberto will be joining us this year. He is an absolutely fantastic person and player. His high school coach ranted and raved about him as a leader and student-athlete. If you watch his high school film, you can see how talented he is. When he came on his visit, I knew it was a huge deal if he was to commit, and I'm proud to announce he did."- Coach LaRocca
Daniel Cabrera-Freshman (Burke, Virginia)
Daniel Cabrera, from Lake Braddock High School in Burke, VA, scored 6 goals and tallied 14 assists his junior season for the Bruins and is a huge addition to our roster. Cabrera did not have a senior year due to Covid-19.
"Daniel is one of the hardest workers I've ever recruited. I know he will bring a tenacious mindset to our culture. I believe Daniel not having a senior season due to the virus really impacted his recruitment, and we are going to make sure we do everything in our power to help him become the best version of himself and move on to a great opportunity." - Coach LaRocca
David Gonzalez-Freshman (Henderson, Kentucky)
David Gonzalez was the Region Player of the Year out of Henderson County High School in Henderson, Kentucky. The First Team All-State selection scored 29 goals and tallied 11 assists in 20 games during his senior year.
"David is the perfect example of what we were targeting for the 2020 class. David is an incredible human being and a tremendous soccer player. From the moment we started recruiting David, we knew he would be the perfect fit. He is a champion in the classroom, and we know he will be someone that has a tremendous four-year career as a student-athlete. I can't wait to work with him."- Coach LaRocca
Robert Watson-Freshman (Brandon, Florida)
Paul Watson, out of Brandon, Florida, was an All-Western Conference midfield selection for Brandon High School with 8 goals and 13 assists. The 6'2" midfielder plays club soccer for the West Florida Flames.
"We are incredibly excited to bring Paul in for the 2020 class. His distribution ability in our system is going to be a tremendous asset. He is such a quality young man. I can't wait to start working with him."- Coach LaRocca
Alexander Aubourg-Freshman (Rockville, Maryland)
Alex Aubourg brings tremendous experience from Bethesda Soccer Club and their Academy team and currently attends St. John's College High School in Washington D.C. The 6'1" center back will join a young Cougar backline.
"We are thrilled to add Alex to the 2020 class. He's such a well put together young man. I remember watching him at a college recruiting event, and his technical ability really stood out. He's already lost 30 pounds from his recruiting visit. I know he is taking this opportunity very seriously. I can't wait to start working with him." - Coach LaRocca
Melvin Casco-Quintanilla-Freshman (Pleasantville, New Jersey)
Melvin Casco-Quintanilla, from Pleasantville High School, was a 2-time First Team All-Conference selection, 2-time First Team All-Atlantic City Press, 3-time high school MVP, and New Jersey All-State selection. Melvin scored 24 goals and had 23 assists his senior season and plays club soccer for PDA.

Gavin Pennell-Freshman (Punta Gorda, Florida)
Gavin Pennell was the 6A Player of the Year and -Timex All-State selection for Charlotte High School in Punta Gorda, Florida.
"Gavin is a huge addition to the squad. We have big shoes to fill losing Ismael, and we are very confident that Gavin is going to come in and compete every day. His potential is high, and I know Coach Mejia can help him reach his potential as well as anyone." - Coach LaRocca
Emir Vasquez-Freshman (Kernersville, North Carolina)
Emir Vasquez out of Kernersville, North Carolina was a First Team All-Conference midfield selection for Glenn High School. Vasquez tallied 5 goals and 16 assists for the Grizzlies. Emir grew up in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and lived there for 13 years before moving to the United States.
"Emir is a tremendous young man. We are so excited to bring his skill set to our team. From day one in the recruiting process for the 2020 class, I demanded we bring in warriors, and Emir certainly checks that box. Fahim Zia-Freshman (Fairfax, VA)
Fahim Zia, out of Kabul, Afghanistan, recently moved to the United States, where he attended Fairfax HS. Zia played club soccer for Arsenal Academy in Thailand and is the current captain of the District Reign.
"We are beyond proud to add Fahim to our brotherhood. He will immediately contribute to our competitive culture. Fahim strives for excellence in every aspect of his life, and we know he will do great here. He can play a variety of different positions, which is invaluable for us."- Coach LaRocca
Alex Kryazhev-Freshman (Falls Church, VA)
Alex Kryazhev was awarded First Team All-District, First Team All-Region, Second Team All-State, and was also named Honorable Mention for the All-Met Team, with 20 goals and 14 assists for George Mason High School. The 6'1" midfielder played club soccer for the Annandale Boys and Girls Club.
"Alex is going to be an exciting player to watch this spring, he will help us significantly in the midfield, and I am so proud he called us to transfer here from Virginia Wesleyan. I know he is going to work relentlessly to become the best version of himself." Coach LaRocca
Ahmed Elmataoui-Sophomore (Falls Church, VA)
Ahmed Elmataoui returns for his sophomore season with the Cougars. Elmataoui started every match his freshman year and was a consistent presence in the midfield. Elmataoui was an All-Conference selection for Falls Church High School, where he led them to the 6A State Championship leading the team in goals and assists. Elmataoui played club soccer for National League Champions BRYC Elite and captained the Virginia State Team for ODP.
"Ahmed is so important to this team's success. He has really developed a voice as a leader and will be pivotal in helping our young guys know where they need to be and when they need to be there. I am excited to see what 2021 has in store for him and our team." – Coach LaRocca
Primo Fogam-Redshirt Sophomore (Washington D.C.)
Primo Fogam is a returning sophomore coming back to form after an injury that required a redshirt season. Fogam scored 7 goals, with 3 game-winners, his freshman season with the Cougars. Fogam helped the Cougars to rank second in the nation in goals per game in his Freshman campaign. Fogam, out of Bell High School (where?), was a First Team All-Met selection and All-State selection, scoring 17 goals and adding11 assists his senior year.
"A healthy Primo Fogam is one of the best players I have ever had at Frederick. I am excited that he is looking healthy and really happy he gets to compete this spring and show everyone how hard he has been working."-Coach LaRocca
Ahijah Joseph-Redshirt Freshman (Attleboro, Massachusetts)
Ahijah Joseph will suit up as a Cougar for the first time this spring after redshirting his freshman year. Joseph was a starter for the U-20 Antigua National team. Joseph attended Attleboro High School in Attleboro, Massachusetts, and played club soccer for Bayside FC, where he led them to a #1 ranking in Rhode Island. Joseph recently competed at the Concacaf World Championships at IMG Academy where he was a starting defender.
