ARNOLD, Md. – A tip of the cap to FCC freshman pitcher Cierra Cook for her stellar performance in the circle. Cook tossed five innings of no-hit ball in the 11-0 victory over the Riverhawks of Anne Arundel Community College. She struck out five batters and walked just two as she improves to 1-0 on the season while battling some very tough wind conditions to achieve the rare feat.

After dropping Game One by the score of 7-2 to AACC, the Cougars came out swinging the sticks and wasted little time lighting up the scoreboard. In the second game, FCC's Ryleigh Bolyard was a perfect 4-for-4 at the dish. She tallied a total of six hits on the day and is hitting a cool .563 on the young season. Bolyard got plenty of help from her teammates. The Cougars put the game away in the sixth inning when Katelyn Burdette smoked a grand slam. Burdette recorded five RBIs in the victory and is ripping the cover off the softball this season. She is hitting .600 and leads the team in RBIs. Madison Edwards joined the hit parade chipping in with two base knocks.

From the Coach

"After a tough first game, it's great to see the girls bounce back and play to their potential. It was a whole team effort with an outstanding performance from Cook on the mound, the great defense behind her, and a grand slam from Burdette in the 5th to finish game two." FCC Head Coach, Hannah Tavik
