Frederick Community College named Sheldon Henry the new head coach for the women's basketball team, Director of Athletics Rodney Bennett announced July 21, 2016. Coach Henry replaces Brad Rideout who was named head coach at Green Mountain College (NCAA DIII) in Poultney, Vermont.

"Coach Henry has an impressive coaching resume and is exactly what we are looking for in a head coach," Bennett said.  "He is well-known in this area and brings a great deal of experience and passion that will help our program on and off the basketball court."

Since 2013, Henry has served as the head varsity girls' basketball coach at St. Maria Goretti High School where he tallied an overall record of 51-31.  Prior to his appointment at St. Maria Goretti HS, Henry spent five years as the head girls' basketball coach at St. John's Catholic Prep in Frederick.  In 2011-12, he led St. John's to a 23-4 season and a second straight Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland championship.

Henry holds a Bachelor's Degree from Adelphia University at Long Island, N.Y. and earned his Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of the District of Columbia in Washington, D.C.
