HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Jone Ayers scored a game-high 22 points turning in a solid day at the office for the FCC women's basketball team as they defeated Hagerstown CC by the score of 70-56 on Friday night. Ayers played all 40 minutes of the contest and connected on 10-of-18 shots in the win! FCC improves to 7-6 overall, including a record of 6-1 in the conference. Hagerstown CC falls to 8-6 overall and 4-5 in the MD JUCO.
Ayers had herself quite a game! She pulled down seven boards and handed out six assists along with her 22 points! She was able to get solid contributions from her teammates. Xanthippe Limber came up big for FCC in the win. She scorched the nets in the first quarter with nine points and finished the contest with a season-high 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Teammate Amiah Banks poured in 13 points in 40 minutes of action. Skylar Robinson registered double figures with 10 points.
The Hawks would make a run, midway through the fourth quarter. FCC was clinging to a 54-53 lead with just six minutes to go but eventually would close out the game with 16-3 run of their own.
FCC shot 28-of-60 (46.7%) from the field in the victory. The Cougars dialed up the defense in the fourth quarter, holding the Hawks to just nine points in the win!
The Cougars will return to the hardwood on 1/15 when they travel to CCBC Catonsville to battle the Cardinals. Tip-off is set for 5:00 P.M.
