Short Handed FCC Earns Quality Win Over Hawks

Banks tallies 25 in win over Hagerstown CC

Frederick, Maryland - Despite having just five players available for today's contest, the Frederick Community College women's basketball team turned in a courageous effort and registered a 68-47 home win over the visiting Hawks from Hagerstown Community College. With the win, FCC improves to 11-4 overall and remains a perfect 4-0 in MD JUCO action, while the Hawks fall to 4-8 overall and 1-4 in the conference.

Amiah Banks registered a game-high 25 points for the Cougars. She connected on 9-of-19 field goals and continues to carry the FCC offense. Makaala Ambush turned in a stellar performance as she recorded a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Nia Powell also recorded a double-double and was a force in the middle with 13 points and 10 boards. Makenzie Crigger chipped in with 11 points to round out the scoring for FCC.

The Cougars carried a 28-16 advantage into the locker room after the first 20 minutes of play. Ariana Moye turned in a dominating performance in the game with seven blocks. Powell add four swats in the win to add to her impressive stat line.

FCC returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 15, when the Cougars travel to CCBC Essex. Tip-off is set for 6:00 P.M.
