Germantown, Md.- The FCC women's soccer team lost 5-2 to a very competitive and skillful Montgomery College on Friday, October 14. The Lady Cougars came out strong in the first half with a goal by Victoria Doing assisted by Shannon Boice in the first twenty-two minutes holding the opponent for most of first half to a 1-1 tie. The Raptors scored just before the half making it 2-1 at the intermission.
The Lady Raptors came on even faster and stronger in the second half with numerous through balls to create scoring opportunities. The Raptors scored another goal and then FCC's Shannon Boice fired a direct kick in their net making it 3-2 with MC holding a slim lead. Although this was the best we defended and played as a team, we held MCC to 5 goals against us. FCC goalie Emily Frank stepped up to record nine saves for the Lady Cougars.
"This was a very exciting game to watch and see our women's team fight hard and make a statement to the MCC team that is 4th in the nation, " said FCC Head Coach Bob Bofinger. "There is more to come."
The next game is a home game against College of Southern, MD on Tuesday, October 18 at 2:30 PM for a NJCAA Division 1 game. Currently the Lady Cougars are 2-2 in the Region.
