Babson Park, Fl. - The Frederick Community College baseball team kicked-off its annual spring break trip today against Webber International University JV in a doubleheader. The Cougars entered this week ranked No. 15 in the NJCAA Division II National Poll. FCC swept the doubleheader over the Warriors by the scores of 3-2 and 9-4. FCC is now 8-2 on the season.
GAME 1
It was a pitcher's duel in game one as FCC starter Doug Pearl went four innings and Logan Bruckschen came in relief to record the final nine outs of the game picking up his first victory of the season.
Centerfielder Alex Aristy continues to tattoo the ball. Aristy had a double and hit his 3rd bomb of the season. The Cougars grinded out the victory scrapping out just four hits.
GAME 2
The storyline of game 2 was the power display put on by the FCC offense pounding out 12 hits in the victory. CJ Mackinson, Alex Melcher, Maciah Thomas, and Brett Grissinger each deposited baseballs over the fence. Jett Manning, Alex Melcher, Thomas and Grissinger each tallied two hits apiece. Melcher knocked in three runs in the victory. Alex Aristy remains hot as the Florida weather. The centerfield went 1-for-1 in game two and is batting .419 on the season with a team-high 12 RBIs. CJ Mackinson continue to be steady at the plate. CJ went 2-for-5 on the day and is batting .320 this season and continues to do a solid job getting on base leading the team with six free passes.
FCC starting pitcher Kyle Raubenstine remains perfect on the year earning the victory on the hill. Raubenstine tossed 4.1 innings and recorded four strikeouts. He is 3-0 on the year and leads the staff in wins.
