McHenry, Md. – No better way to celebrate your birthday than by hitting a home run! That is exactly what FCC designated hitter Alex Melcher did to help lift the Cougars over Garrett College by the score of 11-1 in six innings. Teammates Jett Manning, Eric Dressler, and Brady Harju also hit dingers in the victory. With the victory FCC improves to 31-10 on the season.
FCC starting pitcher Brian Rourke (8-1) continues his dominance on the bump. Rourke gave up just one earned run and recorded six strikeouts. He picked up his eighth victory of the season and pitched his sixth complete game of the season. He lowered his ERA to a stellar 2.21 on the season.
FCC registered 13 hits in the victory led by Brady Harju. He went 3-for-4 and knocked in four runs. Maciah Thomas, Jett Manning, Thomas Gonzalez, and Eric Dressler each had two hits.
The Cougars will return to the diamond on Saturday when they host the Skipjacks from Chesapeake College. Prior to the start of Saturday's first game, the FCC baseball program will host FCC Student Veterans Appreciation Day. First pitch is slated for 12:00 P.M.
