Frederick Proves to Be the More Dominant Cougars in 13–3 Win Over Kalamazoo Valley

Frederick Community College Cougars baseball powered past Kalamazoo Valley Community College 13–3 in a seven‑inning victory at the RussMatt Baseball Invitational. After a quiet first two innings, the Cougars' offense erupted for 12 runs across the third, fourth, and fifth frames.

Frederick broke through in the third when Andrew Varga singled to set the table, and a steady parade of baserunners followed. Vincenzo Cusat delivered an RBI single to score the first run of the day before Casey Westerberg added a two‑run single, pushing the Cougars ahead 3–2.

The fourth inning quickly turned explosive as Braydon Kelman led off with a double, and Hunter Lee was hit by a pitch before a wild pitch advanced both runners into scoring position. Varga drove in Kelman with an RBI groundout, and moments later Clayton Dorsey delivered a run-scoring triple to the gap in center. Cusat then launched the Cougars' biggest swing of the game, a two‑run homer to right, extending the lead to 7–2.

FCC loaded the bases early in the fifth, and Lee drove home two with a single to left. Cusat continued his monster day with another two‑RBI single, finishing with a perfect 4-for-4 line, five runs driven in, and a home run. A passed ball later allowed Dorsey to add another run, pushing the margin to 12–3.

Will Thomas added excitement in the sixth with a triple to right, and Tuccillo later came around to score on a productive sequence to cap Frederick's 13-run performance.

On the mound, Colin Milligan set the tone with five strong innings, striking out six and allowing only two earned runs. Isaac Devine handled the final frame, striking out one and closing out the win cleanly. FCC pitchers combined for seven strikeouts while allowing just four hits.

FCC closes out its Florida slate on Friday, March 6, with a doubleheader at 9:45 AM against nationally ranked No. 22 Lansing Community College.
