Cougars Dominate Season Opener with 10-0 Win Over Dragons
The Frederick Community College women's soccer team opened its 2025 campaign in commanding fashion, rolling past Howard Community College with a decisive 10-0 road victory in Columbia, MD, on Friday afternoon. The Cougars wasted no time setting the tone, scoring five goals in the first 20 minutes of play. Raven Miller struck first just four minutes into the match, and from there, FCC was in attack mode. Kennedy Conley recorded a hat trick, while Miller, Alyssa Pizer, and Francesca Vacchelli each added two goals apiece to pace the Cougars. Jette Swafford also found the back of the net, contributing to the team's well-balanced offensive effort that saw six different players tally goals and six record assists.
On the defensive end, the Cougars were just as sharp. Goalkeepers Britney Nguyen and Vacchelli combined for three saves in the clean sheet, keeping the Dragons off the board despite a few attempts on goal. FCC outshot Howard 29-4 and controlled the match from start to finish.
With the victory, Frederick starts the season 1-0 with 11 regular-season games remaining. The Cougars will now turn their attention to their home opener on Tuesday, September 9, when they host Hagerstown Community College at 2:00 PM.
