Baseball Earns Victory Over Lions To Clinch Region XX D2 No. 1 Seed

FREDERICK, Md. – Congratulations to the FCC baseball team and coaching staff as the Cougars earned the No. 1 seed of the upcoming Region XX D2 Tourney May 12-14 at FCC. This is their 15th straight trip to the Region XX D2 tourney.

The 6-3 victory over CCBC Dundalk clinched the No. 1 seed as the Cougars now have a three game lead in region action with just two games remaining against Region XX D2 opponent AACC on Saturday, May 6th. The Cougars are now winners of four straight and 36-12 overall. More importantly, FCC is 12-2 in Region XX D2 match-ups.

The Cougars spotted the Lions two runs in their first at-bats, however, FCC would respond in the bottom of the 1st. Maciah Thomas and Jett Manning each walked and Alex Aristy followed up with a two-run double knotting the game up at 2-2. The Cougars would add one more run on a sacrifice fly by Thomas Gonzalez scoring Aristy. FCC would plate three more runs highlighted by a double that was scorched off the bat of Brady Harju.

Credit Ryan Capstick for coming out of the bullpen to pick up his first win of the season. Freshman reliever Teagan Staver picks up his second save on the year.

FCC will close out the regular season play on Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader againt AACC. Game will be played at FCC. First pitch is slated for noon.
