Cougars Dominate Prince George’s in Region Sweep

Frederick Community College Cougars delivered a complete sweep in a doubleheader against Prince George's Community College at home to improve to 17-9 overall and 8-4 in Region 20 Division II play. 

Game one was a back-and-forth battle early before Frederick blew it open late in a 15–4 victory. After trading runs through the first five innings, the Cougars erupted for 10 runs in the sixth to turn a tight game into a rout. Cole Swinimer led the charge with three hits and three RBIs, including a three-run home run. Vincenzo Cusat added three hits and three RBIs, while Braydon Kelman chipped in with a home run and two RBIs. Clayton Dorsey contributed two hits and two RBIs as Frederick capitalized on patience at the plate, drawing 11 walks. On the mound, Niko ThaLassinos provided key relief innings to earn the win and stabilize the game before the offensive surge.

Frederick carried that momentum into game two, rolling to a 17–0 shutout to complete the sweep. The Cougars wasted no time, scoring in every inning and putting the game out of reach early. Jack Clarke delivered a standout performance, going 4-for-4 with six RBIs and two triples to lead the offensive explosion. Andrew Varga added two RBIs and reached base consistently, while Luis Perez Alfaro drove in three runs and Hunter Lee chipped in with two RBIs and multiple hits. Clayton Dorsey added a home run as part of another strong day at the plate. On the mound, Vincenzo Cusat was dominant, tossing four scoreless innings, and Quinn Brommer closed out the shutout effort.

The Cougars now turn their focus in their next contest at home doubleheader on Saturday, April 11 against Montgomery College, with first pitch set for 12:00 PM.
