Second-Half Swing Slips Away as Frederick Falls to Harford

Frederick Community College Cougars men's basketball built early momentum but couldn't hold off a strong second-half surge from the Harford Community College Fighting Owls, falling 81–69 on Friday evening at home. The Cougars led 42–34 at halftime after an energetic opening 20 minutes, but Harford responded with 47 second-half points to turn the game and drop the Cougars to 10-9 overall.

Frederick set the tone early with solid ball movement and perimeter shooting, highlighted by Gabriel Jones, who led the Cougars with 19 points and connected on five three-pointers. Cameron Canty provided a strong spark in limited minutes, scoring 12 points on efficient shooting while pulling down seven rebounds. Kylan Johnson added 11 points, five rebounds, and four steals, helping Frederick apply pressure defensively and control the tempo in the first half.

The Cougars continued to compete on the glass, with Thierry Patchou collecting 11 rebounds. Frederick struggled to find rhythm offensively in the second half as Harford's physical play shifted momentum and erased the halftime deficit.

Frederick will regroup for its next contest, when the Cougars host Cecil College on Wednesday, February 4, with tipoff scheduled for 7 PM.
