Cougars Fall Late in Hard-Fought Battle Against Owls
Frederick Community College came up just short in their final home match of the season, falling 2-1 to Prince George's Community College on Monday. The Cougars started strong and took a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute when Omar Aguilar finished a pass from Jason Shairzad for his fourth goal of the season. FCC controlled much of the first half, outshooting the Owls 3-2, and looked to carry that momentum into the second.
The Owls responded late, equalizing in the 75th minute and the game-winner ten minutes later. Despite an aggressive second-half push with eight shots and six on goal, Frederick couldn't find the tying score. Goalkeeper Casey Cutshall played all 90 minutes in goal for the Cougars, while Aguilar led the offensive charge with four shots on target.
The loss brings FCC to 5-11-1 on the season and 3-8 in Region 20 DII play. The Cougars will close out their regular season on the road Tuesday, October 21, at Montgomery College, with kickoff set for 5:00 PM.
