Cougars Battled but Lose Doubleheader Against Bryant & Stratton
On Thursday, the Cougars faced a tough test against a powerful Bryant & Stratton (VA) lineup, dropping both ends of a high-scoring doubleheader to move to 11-11 on the season. Despite flashes of offensive production, Frederick was unable to slow down the Bobcats' explosive bats in either game.
In Game 1, the Cougars struck first and showed early energy behind RBI efforts from Leo Cline and Ava Yockelson, along with a solo home run from Alondra Sidock. Brooke Renninger and Joelle Staub also contributed with extra-base hits as Frederick totaled nine hits on the afternoon. However, a big second inning followed by a nine-run fourth from Bryant & Stratton proved to be the difference, as the visitors capitalized on timely hitting and extended innings to pull away.
Game 2 saw Frederick jump out to an early lead with a three-run first inning, highlighted by aggressive baserunning and productive at-bats. Leo Cline delivered a standout moment with a two-run home run, while Raegan Miller drove in a pair and Staub added another multi-hit performance. The Cougars continued to compete offensively, drawing walks and putting pressure on the defense, but Bryant & Stratton responded to secure the win.
Although the results did not go their way, the Cougars continued to battle inning by inning. Frederick now turns its focus to the next contest at home, as they prepare to host Hagerstown Community College on Wednesday, April 8 at 3:00 PM.
