Frederick Falls Late in Defensive Battle Against PGCC Owls

Frederick Community College women's basketball put together a solid defensive effort, but a strong fourth quarter from Prince George's Community College proved to be the difference as the Cougars fell 50–42 at home on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, Frederick moves to 7–13 overall and 4–9 against Region 20 Division II opponents.

The game remained tight through three quarters, with Frederick matching the Owls' physicality on the glass and holding them to under 30 percent shooting most of the afternoon. Trinity Lindblade and Heaven Murray generated early offense to keep Frederick within striking distance, and the Cougars trailed just 22–19 at halftime after holding Prince George's to eight points in the second quarter.

Frederick found a spark with a strong interior presence from Maylee Regan and efficient finishing from Chebet Nganga. Regan delivered a 13-rebound performance, while Nganga added seven points and seven boards as the Cougars briefly grabbed momentum. Despite the push, Prince George's stayed just in front, taking a slim 31–30 lead into the final frame.

The decisive stretch came in the fourth quarter, where the owls outscored Frederick 19–12 in the period. Murray led the Cougars with 13 points and three steals, while Lindblade added eight points and four steals, and Taliyah Alexander added seven points and eight assists.

Frederick now turns its attention to the final game of the regular season, a road matchup at CCBC Essex on Wednesday, February 25, at 6 PM.
