Cougars Split Road DH with Statement Bounce-Back Win at Cecil
The Frederick Community College Cougars battled through a challenging doubleheader on the road against Cecil College, showing resilience in a split that kept them even at 11-9 overall and 6-6 in Region 20 Division II play. After a tough opening game, Frederick responded with one of its most complete performances of the season to close the day on a high note.
In Game 1, the Cougars ran into a hot-hitting Cecil lineup that jumped out early and never looked back. A big second and third inning from the Seahawks created separation, as Frederick struggled to contain the offensive surge. Despite the setback, there were bright spots for the Cougars, including Joelle Staub's two-hit effort and Madison Ohler driving in the team's lone run with a double in the fifth. Cecil's pitching kept Frederick off balance throughout, limiting the Cougars to just four hits in the contest.
Game 2 told a completely different story, as Frederick flipped the momentum with an explosive performance on both sides of the ball. The Cougars broke through in the third inning and then erupted for five more runs in the fourth, capitalizing on timely hitting and defensive miscues to take full control. Madison Ohler led the charge with a perfect 3-for-3 outing, while Leo Cline and Brooke Renninger each contributed multi-hit games to fuel a 13-hit attack. In the circle, Alondra Sidock delivered a dominant performance, tossing a complete-game shutout and holding Cecil to just three hits to secure the 8-0 win.
The Cougars now return home looking to build on that momentum as they prepare to host Bryant & Stratton College on Thursday, April 2 at 3:00 PM, with hopes of continuing their push in Region 20 play.
