Four players in double figures as Cougars upend Lakers

FREDERICK, Md. – The FCC women's basketball team recorded its biggest win of the season in the Jen Moxley Head Coach era on Monday afternoon with a convincing 62-55 win over the Garrett Lakers (19-4). The Cougars delivered the Lakers just their fourth loss of the season. That makes it two in a row for FCC (4-10) as the Cougars improve to 4-10 overall on the season.
The Cougars took control from the tip and built a 19-point lead in the second half and never looked back. Aubrey Austin registered a team-high 19 points on 7-of-14 from the field. Austin was a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe and knocked down a pair of free throws late in the game to seal the victory. Tiana Jackson chipped in with 17 and continues her consistent play on the season. Jackson logged all 40 minutes in the contest, pulling down a team-high 10 rebounds in the win. It is her fourth double-double in a row. Teammates Jessica Jensen and Makayla Wright scored 14 and 10 points respectively in the win.
The Cougars were clutch late in the game and turned in a stellar performance from the free throw line in the contest connecting on 18-of-24.
FCC will return to the court on Saturday afternoon as they wrap up regular season play vs. College of Southern Maryland. Tipoff is slated for 2:00 PM.
