Volleyball Earns MD JUCO Victory Over Knights

Frederick, Md- Frederick Volleyball earned their first win of the 2015 season Tuesday evening as they downed CCBC Essex in three straight sets. The Cougar offense dominated the Knights in the contest with a team hitting percentage of .378. The win was a whole team effort with all 13 Lady Cougars making a contribution to the match.

Emily Rabat led the Cougar offense with eight kills in the first set while middle hitters Erica Buls and Colleen Weant were a force to be reckoned with, each contributing seven and four kills respectively. Buls and Weant had an errorless evening showing what power the program can achieve for the center of the court. Leeanna Barnes also had a successful night from the front row with five kills and no errors. The program's two setters saw court time in last night's match. Victoria Bryant added 11 assist in set one while teammate Kendall Cohagan tallied 19 assists in sets two and three.

The Cougars take the court again this weekend, September 12th, for the annual Charm City Tournament hosted by Baltimore City Community College. The tournament raises money for breast cancer awareness. Frederick starts the day with a rematch with CCBC Essex at 11:30 followed by Central Pennsylvania at 1:00pm. There will be playoffs to follow the conclusion of pool play with the top two teams moving forward to the semi-finals at 2:30pm and finals at 4:00pm.

With the win, FCC improves to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in MD JUCO play. The next home contest will be September 15th at 7:00pm against Anne Arundel Community College.
