Cougars Fought Hard in First Region 20 Matchup Against Hagerstown

The FCC Cougars women's volleyball team opened Region 20 play on Wednesday night, hosting the Hagerstown Community College Hawks in front of their home crowd. The Cougars showed determination in every set but fell 3-0 (20-25, 21-25, 23-25) in a tightly contested match. Frederick pushed the Hawks throughout, especially in the third set, where they rallied late but came up just short.

Brynn Cochran led the offense with eight kills, five errors on 27 attempts, and contributed a team-high 15 digs to anchor the defense. Eva Turner added five kills and one ace, while Victoria Bell recorded three aces from the service line. Setter Arianna Calhoun directed the attack with 12 assists and nine digs, and freshman Giselle Thompson provided a spark with a perfect hitting percentage and her own ace.

With 16 regular-season matches remaining, the Cougars return to action at home on Saturday, September 6, in a tri-match. Frederick will face Allegany College of Maryland at 11:00 AM before taking on Chesapeake College at 3:00 PM, as FCC continues its early-season push.
